What or who inspired you to choose your career path? Like many PTs, going to physical therapy was my first glimpse into the field that peaked my interest. I went to physical therapy in high school for a running injury and it was during the time frame when I was deciding what to go to school for. I was always more math/science oriented and like that I wouldn't have to sit at a desk all day! Once I started PT school I was impressed at how expansive the field was and how many different populations and specialities there were to work with. More specifically, my first job in Colorado was at a manual therapy clinic and I started taking classes through the Institute of Physical Art, which truly directed my career path for the better.

Why do you love what you do? A lot of reasons. I love that each person is a little puzzle, no two quite the same, even if technically the same diagnosis or genre. This keeps it fresh and keeps me motivated to learn, and enjoy being able to help people problem solve and restore quality of life to what often starts off as a frustrating situation when they are hurting or unable to participate in life like they'd like. I love working with patients to see a positive change. It's also really nice to be with people all day. It's interesting to hear stories and interact with different people, experiences, and perspectives.

What is frustrating for you in your field, or something you wish the general public could know about what you do? How many people have had a negative experience in physical therapy. So many people are often given exercises to roll through with minimal correction and with a PT who is juggling multiple patients, and either end up worse, get sick of the poor situation and quit going, or get some temporary benefit and end up in physical therapy again for the same thing. Physical therapy should aim to get at the source of the problem, look at the root of the issue and the body as a whole, and make

adjustments to the system to move efficiently and less likely to come back. Also how poor reimbursement is!

Charleston is a hot spot destination—what is one of your go-to places for food, a drink, or entertainment? Low Tide and Cafe Roca. Both are low key, family friendly spots

What book are you currently reading? Lots of kids books = )
