Pelvic Floor Therapy

What is Pelvic Floor Therapy?
Pelvic floor therapy (PFT) is a non-invasive treatment that helps with any pelvic floor muscle weakness and joint alignment issues you may be experiencing. It can relieve pain, incontinence, and sexual challenges.

PFT restores the balance and function of the muscles in the pelvic area so you can feel better. It often involves education, hands-on techniques, and specialized exercises (not just Kegels!)

Because pelvic floor therapy requires a gentle internal examination, only specialized physical therapists may provide these treatments.

While most providers require self-payment for this therapy, Joint Effort is one of the only centers in Charleston that accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, Tricare, and Aetna insurance.
If you've tried everything else without success, don't miss the opportunity to schedule a PFT evaluation.
Meet Your Therapist
Hey Ladies! I'm Abby Brenner, your pelvic floor therapist at Joint Effort Movement Center.

I originally come from St. Charles, Missouri, after spending four years in Columbia, Missouri, I moved South Carolina with my husband. My journey into physical therapy began after I tore my ACL while playing competitive soccer, which ignited my passion for helping others.
I enjoy treating a variety of patients, but I have a special focus on pelvic floor therapy. I’ve completed my level 1 and 2a certifications through Herman and Wallace and I'm on the path to becoming a board-certified pelvic floor specialist.
I believe it’s important for women of all ages to know that while pelvic floor dysfunction is common, it’s not normal. I love empowering women to understand their pelvic floor and helping them prevent future issues. I also offer dry needling and Pilates training to enhance my patients' experiences.

I look forward to working with you! Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
